Stair treads refer to the horizontal pieces that form the stairs. This is the surface people will walk on. The stair risers are the vertical pieces of the stair. Together, stair tread and riser combinations craft beautiful staircase designs that can connect multiple stories of any building and can include stair landings that support rest or call for a change in direction.
